PRAYERS I SHOULD KNOW

SIGN OF THE CROSS

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen OUR FATHER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

APOSTLES, CREED

(Note: Tradition tells us that the Apostles would have used this Creed to tell people what they believe. It is nice for us to say when we want to remind ourselves or tell other people what 7 believe \)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

NICENE CREED

(Note: The Nicene Creed is used during most Masses to profess our faith. It was made part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist in the fourth Century and received it's name from the Council of Nicene held in 325 A.D.)

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. / We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eter-nally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. / For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. / We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church and have our communion in our communion dresses. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

GLORY BE

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

O Holy Spirit, Eternal God with the Father and Son, who sees all my actions and counts all my steps, from whom no thought is hidden, enlighten me that I may clearly see what evil I have done today, and what good I have left undone. And move my heart that I may sincerely repent and amend my life. Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION (VERSION 1)

0 my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because

1 dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION (VERSION 2)

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.

In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
